Caton Technology has been awarded the First Prize of the 2025 Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) Technology Invention Award for its joint research project with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, “Key Technologies for Intelligent Representation and Encoding of Multimedia Signals and Models.”

The award recognises significant technological innovation with proven industry impact and is among China’s highest honours in electronics and information engineering. Presented annually by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and officially recognised by China’s National Office for Science and Technology Awards, it also serves as a nomination pathway to the country’s National Science and Technology Awards.
The award-winning project addresses fundamental challenges in multimedia signal representation, intelligent encoding and visual reconstruction, delivering three major technical innovations:
These technologies have been incorporated into multiple categories of multimedia real-time transmission systems and have been applied across IPTV, cross-border real-time video contribution and live broadcasting applications.
